Conclusion

...with a £170 price tag, you could argue that the WindForce 2X is a smarter choice compared to the extravagant G1 Gaming.

Gigabyte's WindForce has served as a tried-and-trusted cooler on many a GPU. Now attached to Nvidia's latest GeForce, the GTX 960, the WindForce 2X delivers many of the benefits you come to expect from a custom-cooled card.

Core temperature is kept down to a minimum, fan noise has all but been eliminated, and a healthy core overclock is provided right out of the box. Those are the basics covered, and with a £170 price tag, you could argue that the WindForce 2X is a smarter choice compared to the extravagant G1 Gaming.

Nitpicking somewhat, we feel as though the dual-six-pin power requirement serves as an unnecessary restriction on a GPU of this ilk, and though Gigabyte has indulged in a far-reaching boost profile, performance remains a long way off the likes of Radeon R9 290 and GeForce GTX 970.

Bottom line: need an overclocked and custom-cooled GTX 960 for your 1080p gaming needs? Gigabyte's WindForce 2X fits the bill.

It's a low priced GPU, but 2GB of memory does not seem to be enough for a user to take full advantage of the GTX960 core. Prefer to the 4GB product just released.
This product is aimed at 1080p gaming which it does very well with 2GB. If you are thinking of gaming at 1440p or above you should be stepping up to a 970 or 290 which DO come with 4GB.
The GTX960 really does poorly in Shadow of Mordor - the GTX760,R9 280 and R9 280X are all faster!!
Agreed. This certainly does appear to be memory limited…I would imagine a drop from Ultra Quality Preset would improve performance on all the 2GB cards - I think they're trying to get a 4GB quart of textures into 2GB pint pot.
Surely the issue is not performance but price?

If it was £140-150 everyone would be claiming this is the new messiah.
