Overclocking

Knowing that the WindForce 2X has the same PCB and power-delivery system as the G1 Gaming, we expected good overclocking potential and we haven't been disappointed. With little persuasion, we had the core ramped-up to 1,350MHz and memory to an effective 8,400MHz.

Ironically, that's a touch higher than we managed with our G1 Gaming sample a few weeks back, and with Gigabyte playing it fast and loose in terms of boost, the WindForce 2X was found hitting speeds as high as 1,564MHz with the overclock in place.

There's a good amount of overclocking headroom - as is the case on most GTX 960s - but no matter how hard you push, don't expect to get anywhere near R9 290 or GTX 970 territory.
