Conclusion

...attempts to deliver the best bits of the original Silent Base 800 in a smaller profile and at a more agreeable price.

As is so often the case, the first launch turned out to be easy and it's the follow-up that's proving to be a challenge. be quiet!'s second PC enclosure, the Silent Base 600, attempts to deliver the best bits of the original Silent Base 800 in a smaller profile and at a more agreeable price.

The end result is a chassis that is cheaper and not quite so tall, but there are unenviable trade-offs. While the central structure and internal layout is practically identical, there are fewer storage mounts, just the one front intake and a noticeable lack of airflow. In its default configuration, Silent Base 600 was unable to prevent our dual GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards from throttling, and that's a problem in a congested marketplace chock-full of similarly-priced competitors.

Out-the-box performance leaves something to be desired but the chassis is flexible enough to get around such problems through multiple radiator mounting points, and we suspect the non-windowed model may fare better courtesy of a side vent where it's needed most. A built-in fan controller, accessible filters and multiple vibration-dampening elements add to the chassis' appeal, yet given the close proximity in price, we still favour the bigger and better Silent Base 800.

The Good

The Bad
Filtered Pure Wings 2 fans
Rubberised hard-disk mounts
Flexible storage configuration
Built-in fan controller
Easily accessible filters

Stifled front intake
Middling cooling performance
Priced close to Silent Base 800

It's no NZXT H4440 - it's always going to be hard to top that from now on
So sick of these cases covered in plastic. I mean it dosent look bad but ill take a solid define R4 or nzxt h440 any day. I know they have plastic in them its very difficult to avoid but ill say one thing about those cases… look at their weight! This be quiet case weighs 7.8kg, as do most, the R4 weighs 12.8 and the h440 9.8. They use thick quality steel.
I wonder if it supports Dark Rock Pro 3. I know that the 800 series was advertised with it but the clearence from the be quiet! website for the 600 is too close to call.

It's a little better looking, IMO. Still not a fan of doors on the case front, though.

What is so good about the H440s anyway? They're pretty cheap and feel like it, too. I much preferred doing builds in Corsair cases.
