Final thoughts and rating
Time and time again, Scan Computers has proven that it has the wherewithal to conceive and create enthusiast-grade PCs that deliver extreme performance with little compromise.
In recent months, the system integrator has delivered a range of outstanding machines that aim to be the best available at their respective £1,000, £2,000 and £3,000 price tags, but the 3XS Carbon SLI usurps everything that has come before it in an attempt to offer the very best PC gaming experience to the select few who are willing to part with almost £4,000.
The price tag is almost as obscene as the frame rates returned by the dual GTX 690 configuration, and this is a PC that only makes sense in wild scenarios; it needs at least a couple of high-resolution monitors to showcase its true ability.
If there's a criticism, it's that Scan has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to produce systems that are best described as gaming beasts, and we'd like to see the company put its PC-building know-how into a gaming rig that's quieter and perhaps more refined. With modern-day CPUs and GPUs becoming more power efficient, we want to see extreme performance delivered in smaller form factors that are less thirsty and near-silent in operation.
We could also sneer at the price tag - and we do wonder who's willing to spend this amount of money on a gaming PC - but the 3XS Carbon SLI ultimately ticks all of the boxes it's designed to. In-game performance is phenomenal, the system looks incredible, it's well built with all of Scan's usual attention to detail, and it's backed by a new-and-improved three-year warranty. Put simply, you're unlikely to find a faster gaming machine anytime soon.
The Good
