Benchmarks: Noise
The 3XS Carbon SLI tore through most CPU and GPU benchmarks, but that top-line performance has resulted in high power consumption, above-average system temperature and a to-be-expected level of noise.
Most gamers aren't going to be distracted by the constant whoosh of the upward-facing chassis fans, but on the whole idle noise isn't bad for a system as extreme as this.
This is handy, too. When applying maximum load to the CPU, the Phanteks cooler gets hardly any louder.
But noise levels do go up when gaming, and the 3XS Carbon SLI goes from audible to somewhat distracting. Again, most gamers won't notice it amid the gunfire, and keeping dual GTX 690s running silent is a near-impossible proposition.
