Final thoughts and rating

The be quiet! Dark Power Pro 10 650W supply arrives at retail armed with a £125 price tag. Enthusiasts may baulk at the idea of paying so much for a mid-wattage PSU, especially as higher-capacity supplies are available for less money, but merely a cursory look at the price would be doing the DPP 10 a disservice.

Be quiet! uses a new FSP platform for its 550W-750W models, The underlying technology is excellent, with commendable voltage regulation, decent ripple suppression and whisper-quiet fan. The externals match the innards; the 650W model looks great and is built like a tank, and the addition of fan connectors is a wise move.

There's a lot to like here and it's very much a premium PSU in every sense. Get past the £125 price and somewhat high 12V ripple and it's almost perfect. You can get higher-capacity supplies for less money, same-capacity models for significantly less, but that would be missing the point. This is a high-quality bit of kit that's aimed at the discerning enthusiast. Recommended if you put quality ahead of price.

The Good

Excellent construction inside and out
Very quiet at all times
Excellent voltage regulation
Good choice of cables
50°C operation

The Bad

High price

If it was Platinum rather than Gold I could justify the premium price, but at 650w this is too expensive and it will get overlooked. If it was 750w it would be better placed.
At this price I would get one of the Seasonics…
we take a closer look at the 650W jobbie.

Feeling pretty informal today Tarinder? ;)

+ 1.

This is way way over priced, its just not competitive. You can get the Corsair AX850 for that price.
More power,
100% modular,
No fan spin up upto 50% load - complete silence.

I think the 4 out of 5 rating is just too generous, should be 3 based on the poor value.
