Bethesda and id Software have only just pushed the DOOM reboot out of the door – last Friday. Now it looks like they want another roll of the reboot dice, as a number of job vacancy adverts have appeared mentioning the Quake franchise. The ads, posted on the official Zenimax Media website, have given fresh new hope to fans of the Quake franchise hoping for a new game in the series. It has been around nine years since the last Quake game, Quake Wars, was released on PC.
Tweaktown reports there are a total of 12 vacant positions advertised at id Software Dallas, Texas, including major roles like Lead Gameplay Programmer, plus a total of five roles advertised for id Software's offices in Frankfurt, Germany, including a Senior Engine Programmer and a Senior Physics Programmer.
The listings that caught the eye of eager Quake fans include the following text snippet in their introductions – directly mentioning Quake:
"id Software is looking for an Art Supervisor to work as part of a development team on legendary game properties like DOOM and QUAKE, developing custom tools and technology for the game industry's most advanced titles."
With the above vacancy listings a new Quake game looks likely, especially as it would be a pretty sure-fire money spinner for the business. However we shouldn't expect any signs of the game in development very soon, as seasoned gamers will know, game development is a lengthy process.
