According to the Comic-Con website, which holds its annual pop-culture event at the end of the month in San Diego, EA and Maxis are set to unveil a brand new role-playing game set within the Spore universe.

The website reveals that on Saturday, July 24 "they will reveal "a brand new, Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore." Despite numerous spin-offs, the Spore franchise has always adpoted the "God Game" formula, so this new title looks set to take the series in a whole new direction.

It seems likely that the game will be called Dark Spore, a name that was trademarked by Electronic Arts recently.

Other gaming related companies at Comic-Con this year include representatives from the likes of Epic Mickey, Red Faction Armageddon and Guild Wars 2.

see now i liked spore….granted ive stoped playing it (l4d2 took over my life recently) but still i blast on it every now and then, lets hope if they do this they wont ruin the game for everyone and place some stupid DRM which will render it useless……otherwise im all for it and will most likly buy on release :)
