Price war time?

On the day of the original Samsung NC10 announcement HEXUS did a netbook round-up. The main competition to the 10.2-inch NC10 is the ASUS Eee PC 1000H and the MSI Wind. They are currently selling at around £350, so this move is going to undercut them considerably.

It seems a fair assumption that this aggressive move by Samsung is going to lead to a round of price cuts across the netbook market as 10.2-inch models drop to £299 or lower. Furthermore that should force the £299 8.9-inch models, like the Eee PC 901 and Dell Inspiron Mini 9, to try to carve out a new niche closer to £200.

Do you think this aggressive move make the NC10 the best value netbook out there? Will you be buying one? Let us know in the HEXUS.community.

If it has a 6-cell battery, count me in.

EDIT: Ohh apparently it does, this could well be the netbook I've been waiting for…

My thoughts exactly.
Me three. I think they've got it dead right. £300 is the right price point, and the 6 cell battery is a must. Now what they need is good marketing (i.e. letting the punters know what a great deal this is) and they can clean up.
I think the mystery factor may have involved a certain street in New York and the US House of Representative's view of it. ;)
Looks good, if this is right and it sells for £300 with a 6 cell battery then I'll get one over waiting for the Eeepc 1000H to fall in price to £300. I think Samsung has got the price just right for their netbook which makes a change. Asus should take note.
