EVGA to bring space-saving Super G7 PSU to market in September
Gold- and Platinum-rated efficiency in a 17 per cent smaller size.
Chief amongst EVGA's highlights at Computex 2018 is the intention to release a new range of premium power supplies under the Super G7 banner.
Available in both 80 PLUS Gold and Platinum certifications, the new supplies, ranging from 650W to 1,000W, are 17 per cent smaller than the present G3 line. Such reduction in footprint - 1,000W is only 150mm deep - is achieved by using a new, more efficient transformer that is 40 per cent smaller than what EVGA uses today.
Superflower is still the go-to OEM, and the new platform is an evolution of the Leadex design. A by-product of the smaller design is higher efficiency and lower noise, according to EVGA. The smaller size has a positive knock-on benefit of reducing cost, but EVGA wouldn't comment how much cheaper the 1,000W model is going to be than the present G3.
In related news, EVGA is rolling out upgraded versions of its true SFX PSU. To be made available in up to 650W and also released to market in September this year, it is one for small-form-factor builders to look out for.
