Final thoughts and rating

The 3XS Performance GTX is designed to sate the desire of those who crave the latest and greatest in NVIDIA GPU technology.

If you absolutely must have a GeForce GTX 680, and no other GPU configuration will do, Scan's sub-Ā£1,200 system is a tempting solution. Aimed squarely at those who favour in-game performance above all else, the machine combines a wave of mid-range components with a top-end graphics card to deliver outstanding gaming performance.

It's the PC for users who like to crank-up in-game quality settings without having to worry about playable frame rates - put simply, this level of performance has never before been available from a machine armed with a single-GPU graphics card.

But the 3XS Performance GTX's dedication to gaming performance has left it unexceptional in other areas. We'd consider a quieter chassis such as the Corsair Obsidian Series 550D in an effort to reduce noise levels, and we'd almost certainly add an SSD for everyday system responsiveness. But Scan has all the required configuration options readily available so what really matters here is build quality. In that regard, it's hard to knock the 3XS Performance GTX - the overclock, the build and the service are all good reasons to invest.

The Good

GeForce GTX 680 delivers outstanding gaming performance
Overclocked Core i5-2500K processor
Top-notch build quality
Two-year warranty
No bloatware

The Bad

Could be quieter
No SSD as standard

Nice - liking this review purely as its the closest thing anyone has done to ‘single gtx680 vs SLI gtx580’s'… why people dont add sli figures into launch reviews is beyond me…
Looks like a decent system and nice to see a high end gaming machine which doesn't make you waste loads on an overkill cpu.

I think they should offer an Intel 311 cache drive as an option, people who use it seem to be quite impressed with it and saves arranging/moving files and programs around.

Not too much of a premium considering service and overclock, good job scan.

Because sites like Hexus aren't charities - they are businesses, and why get you for one visit when they could get you to visit twice?
some kind of bang for buck score would be ery helpful as it doesn't show too well at first glance. Changing prices over time might make this tricky admittedly.
