Conclusion

...takes the guesswork out of network servers via streamlined hardware and an intuitive OS that's accessible to both experts and novices alike.

WD has expanded its range of two-bay My Cloud servers with the launch of the Pro Series PR2100. Priced from £380 for a diskless unit and extending up to £860 for a top-of-the-line 16TB model, the compact NAS offers centralised storage in a package tailored to creative professionals.

High capacity allied to a capable quad-core Intel Pentium processor is part of the appeal, and WD takes the guesswork out of network servers via streamlined hardware and an intuitive OS that's accessible to both experts and novices alike.

Simple setup and configuration is among the PR2100's strong points, and though the My Cloud OS isn't yet as feature rich as, say, Qnap's QTS or Synology's DiskStation Manager, WD covers most of the essentials that matter to the target audience.

Bottom line: Up to 16TB of capacity in a user-friendly package that's backed by a three-year warranty and an always-improving My Cloud OS make the PR2100 an attractive repository for masses of multimedia content.
