Conclusion
...the fact that the Core i7 or Core i5 models offer a choice of very quiet or completely fanless designs is a real feat of engineering. The 2017 Surface Pro may appear to be an incremental upgrade over the Surface Pro 4, yet there's more to it than first meets the eye.
Softer edges enhance an already excellent form factor, the kickstand is further improved, there's a choice of more powerful processors under the hood, battery life has extended, and the fact that the Core i7 or Core i5 models offer a choice of very quiet or completely fanless designs is a real feat of engineering.
This is, undoubtedly, Microsoft's best interpretation of "total mobile productivity," yet our lofty expectations of Surface products is such that we are left craving that little bit more.
Could a larger display be squeezed into the same body? Is USB Type-C ready for the mainstream? And should either a Surface Pen or Type Cover be included as standard? These are questions that need to be addressed, but Microsoft has our attention and we're already eager to see Surface devices outfitted with eighth-generation Intel processors.
Bottom line: often imitated but never bettered, Surface Pro remains the the standard bearer for compact convertible PCs.
