Conclusion

Building on the foundations of the award-winning WindForce OC, Gigabyte's GHz Edition raises the bar with a massive core overclock that, all things considered, is unlikely to be well beaten anytime soon.

Nvidia's Kepler architecture dates right the way back to March 2012, but only now, 20 months later, are we experiencing the full force of the GeForce product line.

In the hands of various partners, the top-of-the-range GeForce GTX 780 Ti - complete, at last, with all 2,880 processors - is being pushed to the limit to deliver the maximum amount of performance available from a single GPU today.

Building on the foundations of the award-winning WindForce OC, Gigabyte's GHz Edition raises the bar with a massive core overclock that, all things considered, is unlikely to be well beaten anytime soon.

With real-world speeds of up to 1,228MHz, Gigabyte's marquee card is able to deliver superlative performance, but it does so at a cost. Temperature, power consumption and noise are all brought up to the fore, and pricing, too, is likely to be pushed into troubling territory. Sure, the GHz Edition is crazy fast, but you could argue that the cheaper, quieter, cooler and more efficient WindForce OC is the better bet.

Arguments can be made for and against, but when all's said and done, it ultimately boils down to this: do you want to own one of the fastest single-GPU graphics cards available today? If so, look no further than Gigabyte's GeForce GTX 780 Ti GHz Edition.

The Good

Superlative single-GPU performance
Massive out-the-box overclock
Backplate offers extra rigidity
Three free games via Nvidia Holiday Bundle
WindForce cooler keeps temperature in check

The Bad

You know it won't be cheap
Is louder and thirstier than we'd like

More POWAAAAHHHHHHH!

Of course, the lack of further OCability suggests this is very close to the ragged edge for Kepler, which is what AMD will have been waiting for. Imagine if they'd licensed partners to aim for Gigabyte OC performance then the GHz edition came out to take back the performance crown. The only question remaining is how quickly partners can tweak their designs and get them out the door….
Looking at those 1440p scores this looks like it could give 4K a decent run? I any results in that regard?
1 of these, even tho it's rly powerful is still short of properly powering 4k gaming. You need 2 in sli to do it.
