Conclusion

...the challenge here is whether or not manufacturers can better Nvidia's reference design; something that's easier said than done.

PC gaming enthusiasts have seen little in terms of genuinely new GPU architectures in 2013. With AMD continuing to keep its next-generation under the wraps and Nvidia launching GTX 700-series cards that are, for the most part, GTX 600-series parts given a makeover, gamers haven't had a great deal to get excited about outside of the ludicrously priced Titan.

Of the recent crop, the GeForce GTX 770 stands a potent solution at around the £300 mark, and in knowing that the card has the same underpinnings as the incumbent GTX 680, add-in-board partners have been quick out of the gate with a wide variety of custom-cooled and factory-overclocked derivatives.

Indeed, GTX 770 performance was never in question - take a GTX 680, make it faster and cheaper, and you're on to a winner - the challenge here is whether or not manufacturers can better Nvidia's reference design; something that's easier said than done.

KFA2 has taken an aggressive approach with the LTD OC, delivering one of the fastest-clocked GTX 770s ever conceived. Suited-up in white and dressed to impress, the card looks unique and has the right amount of performance in today's latest games.

There's plenty to like, but the card needs to be close to perfection in order to warrant the premium £360 price tag, and it falls short in one or two key areas. The cooler, while adept at carrying out its primary role, is louder than we'd like, and then there's the needless omission of dual-link DVI connectivity.

Bottom line: Putting together a white-themed gaming rig? KFA2's GTX 770 LTD OC is one of few options in the GPU department, and if you're willing to accept a proviso or two, it delivers performance in spades.

The Good

Massive core overclock
Excellent 1080p performance
Closes gap on premium GTX 780
White aesthetics offer something different
Free game: Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist

The Bad

Lacks DVI output
Memory isn't overclocked
Louder than competing cards

Looks pretty good!
Loving my KFA2 GTX 670 OC from last year. Can't justify an upgrade though. No DVI?!
Excellent review, as usual. I love KFA2 gfx cards with white pcb/scheme. Great performance as expected :)
I'm guessing also aimed at those looking to run 3 1080p screens ‘simply’. I use quotes because you're going to have to splash out for extra adapters to even do that.
Super-extra-awesome custom version, but not 4GB? #neversatisfied
