Final thoughts

...Nvidia provides more performance at a lower price point and with better reference cooling than available on the GTX 680: these facts alone ensure the GeForce GTX 770 will sell well.

Echoing thoughts from previous GeForce editorial, the GTX 770 GPU takes a next-generation name but uses existing technology harnessed from the venerable GTX 680 launched in March of last year.

GeForce GTX 770 is a higher-clocked version of the GTX 680, presented in a tidier package and imbued with the latest GPU Boost technology. Generally conforming to the specifications of readily-available GTX 680 OC cards and therefore eking out small performance gains against the previous-generation single-GPU champ, this is a card that only makes good sense once the pricing is factored in.

Starting today, the GTX 770 - or, GTX 680 OC, if you prefer - is available for £330 from a wide range of retailers, with overclocked models to be sold for a small premium. This pricing should mean GTX 680 GPUs - which remain perfectly good high-end cards - will likely drop to comfortably below £300 as stock is cleared. Such an introduction heralds good news for the gamer who is after a decent card, as it will also put renewed focus on AMD to look at the price of the performance-comparable Radeon HD 7970 GHz.

Bottom line: Nvidia provides more performance at a lower price point and with better reference cooling than available on the GTX 680: these facts alone ensure the GeForce GTX 770 will sell well, though real progress will only present itself on proper next-gen architectures.

The Good

GTX 680 OC+ perf at GTX 670 OC money
Wonderfully built; looks the business
Reference card is lovely and quiet

The Bad

Not a new architecture for a bump in nomenclature

so it matches the 22 month old 7970@ 1ghz then - some games the 770 is faster and some its slower. all for more money than a 7970 - BUT at least £40 LESS than a slower GTX 680.

maybe some fire sales on gtx680 and 670`s soon :D
Interesting note about the boost being 1,136.6MHz most of the time for a supposed reference of 1,085Mhz - this is going to make choosing a non-reference OC model all the more tricky. TR have a list of some OC models here with varying claimed boost speeds : http://techreport.com/news/24877/geforce-gtx-770-serves-up-gk104-in-titan-style-package-for-399
Will there be any 770's with the titan cooler going to retail?

I was thinking the same thing and had a look on Scan - not one of them has that cooler.
