Conclusion
For that you get the high-quality fit and finish of the reference board but also the foibles that arrive with it...The GeForce GTX 1070 Ti is a good, safe bet for enthusiasts looking to upgrade from a reasonable card from three years ago. Based on the impressive, efficient Pascal architecture, GTX 1070 Ti offers buttery-smooth framerates at 1080p and a fine gaming experience at 1440p.
Pair it up with a G-Sync-enabled screen of either resolution and most will have little to complain about. Of course, such close proximity to a number of other quality GPUs makes the buying choice nebulous, more so with Nvidia's reluctance to let AIBs clock their cards as they wish.
The Founders Edition model, available directly from Nvidia or pre-installed in a system, arrives at £419. For that you get the high-quality fit and finish of the reference board but also the foibles that arrive with it, namely high-ish temperatures, a boost clock that doesn't keep pace with AIB designs and, if you are really picky, a noise profile that's higher than, say, EVGA or MSI would have.
We still firmly believe that Nvidia needs to revise its Founders Edition design to keep pace with the two- and three-fan coolers available elsewhere. As an all-round package, other than a keen price, it is beaten by a quality offering from an AIB on all fronts, so pragmatic advice boils down to how much you like the look of the Founders Edition build.
The Good The Bad Looks great
Overclocks well
Perfect for QHD G-Sync
Attractive energy efficiency Fails stress test
Noisier and hotter than AIB cards
