For the past couple of years, Corsair has enjoyed success in the mid-tower chassis market with award-winning enclosures such as the Graphite Series 600T and Obsidian Series 650D. Both options continue to have plenty to offer, but the £140 price tag is overshadowing the company's earlier efforts.

Right now, it's the £90-£100 price bracket that manufacturers are targeting, with chassis such as the Fractal Design Define R4 and NZXT H440 leading the charge. This is an area of the market that Corsair needs to address, and after a lukewarm reception to the Vengeance C60, the firm is bolstering its portfolio with the performance-focussed Obsidian Series 450D.

Doing away with many of the extras available to the older 650D - including quick-release side panels, integrated fan control and an external hot-swap SATA bay - the new 450D trims away the excess to deliver a competitively-priced enclosure that is all about maximising airflow. With eight available fan mounts and support for multiple radiators, this is a mid-tower frame that's tailor-made for a couple of large Hydro Series coolers.

Sleek, all-black aesthetics and good overall build quality add to the appeal, and though the 450D may be lacking some of the sparkle that once made the Obsidian Series feel special, this remains a smart-looking enclosure with huge performance potential.

Looks great but I do wonder why they didn't use the same style of filter as the roof panel on the front. Would have kept it more consistent looking.

Looks great. Definitely addresses most of my concerns with my 750D. I presume you can buy extra HDD cages if you needed them?

For £92 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsair-obsidian-series-450d-high-airflow-mid-tower-case I'm sorry but that's a bit pricey for what it is. if this was in the £70-80 range it would be a bit better.
I don't think the front vents spoil it that much, although I agree with JCBeastie, using the same mesh as the top on the front would of been good.

Other than the price I can see only one minor issue, that being the rear fan mount is flush with the io shield, which is a minor cost cutting you normally see on cheaper cases, it's a minor issue because that small space can cause issues between the motherboard and rear 120rad&fan setups.

It is too pricey - the 650D is only £30 more and offers alot more.

This should be £80 market

Not bad at all, i think aswell it's about £10 or so bit much. I'm sure it will probably come down in the next few months, not a huge fan of the front, but a nice case in and out.
