Conclusion
...NZXT's H230 fits the bill for mainstream users in the market for a functional chassis that doesn't break the bank. The H230 is NZXT's attempt at providing mainstream system builders with a little bit of everything. For under £60, the mid-tower chassis offers good build quality backed up by a healthy feature set that includes plenty of storage bays, a modular drive cage, foam-lined side panels and your choice of black or white paintwork.
These ingredients make the chassis a good fit for a wide range of builds and, for the most part, the H230 is easy to work with and demonstrates a willingness to accommodate mid-to-high-end hardware.
If there's a catch it's that NZXT's desire to cover all bases has prevented the chassis from excelling in any one area. We'd liked to have seen more in terms of soundproofing - lining the front and top would have moved the H230 closer to its 'silent' billing - and, though the modular drive bays are plentiful, the individual trays aren't in keeping with the quality of the enclosure as a whole.
Self-builders seeking a truly quiet solution will be better served elsewhere, but NZXT's H230 ultimately fits the bill for mainstream users in the market for a functional chassis that doesn't break the bank.
