Final Thoughts and Rating
Corsair's Vengeance C70 is intriguing for a couple of reasons; we expected this gamer-focussed chassis to look vulgar and cool admirably, but what we have is somehow the opposite: it doesn't cool quite as well as it should, and in the flesh, it looks better than anticipated.
The sub-optimal out-the-box fan configuration is mystifying, but it's easily fixed and there are plenty of positives elsewhere. The chassis looks and feels robust, cable management is excellent, there's plenty of room to install high-end cooling of the air or liquid variety, and the little touches - including sturdy carry handles and a missile-launch power button - help heighten the appeal.
We've seen Corsair's chassis design take a few small steps forward - the built-in cable-management clamps should almost certainly filter through to all of the company's future enclosures - but the Vengeance C70 also feels like a couple of steps in the other direction. When you consider that the Obsidian Series gave us great performance, the Graphite Series had the looks, and the Carbide Series offered a lot of what's good about Corsair chassis for under £100, the first enclosure from the Vengeance Series falls short by not hitting any of those notes but instead strikes a new chord of its own; it looks unique and has an abundance of LAN-party appeal.
The Good
Excellent cable management
Convenient carry handles
Room for high-end air or liquid cooling
Good build quality; feels solid throughout
The Bad
Standard fan configuration needs work
Isn't Corsair's prettiest case
Very little sound-proofing
