Publisher to make PCs capable of running their games?
We all know what a chore it can be to get your rig running Crysis at a reasonable frame-rate. Well EA, perhaps, might have come up with the answer as, according to a blogger's post from Comic-Con, EA are going to make high-end gaming PCs specifically built to run their latest games.Apparently, on the EA stand at Comic-Con, an 'EA rep' (so that could be anyone wearing a branded t-shirt), has mentioned that EA are looking at making PCs of differing specs, to meet the demands of the games they're publishing and the first such machine will be out in time for Crysis Warhead.
Even better, this machine will cost in the region of $600-$800 dollars. You can check the post out for yourself here, though I personally find it all a little far fetched. The market for pre-built systems is fiercely competitive and unless the rep meant that EA had a deal with the likes of Dell for branded machines, I can't see how they expect to make any in-roads into a low margin market like this.
For the less-gullible amongst us there's an easy solution to running Crysis at decent frame-rates with the eye-candy on: install XP.
