Dell's high-end UltraSharp line of monitors is firm favourites among professionals in the graphics and design industries. With Apple withdrawing its 30in Cinema Display though, it looks like the world's third-largest PC-manufacturer might be taking the opportunity to update its flagship monitor.
With the help of a little online translation, we've managed to pick up some details from PCPOP of a new UltraSharp 3011 shown boxed-up in a warehouse. According to the site, the new model uses a 2,560x1,600px S-IPS LCD-panel that is similar to the one used in the current U3008WFP.
Unfortunately, that's about all the information the source had, other than photos of the factory colour calibration report and on-screen menus. The story couldn't even say for sure if the four monitors in the warehouse were retail models or just engineering samples.
The current 30in UltraSharp monitor was released almost two years ago now, so we'd say that it's just about ready for an update. Considering that the 27in model was given a refresh at the start of this year might also give weight to the idea that Dell is ready to bring its top-of-the-line screen up to date.
We obviously have no idea when - or even if - this new screen will see a release, but given that the current model costs almost £1,600 directly from the manufacturer, you may want to start saving as soon as possible.
