Dell unveil new display port tech in the UltraSharp 3008WFP

First monitor to integrate DisplayPort, a new USB-sized connector

CES 2008 Dell have unveiled the UltraSharp 3008WFP here at CES 2008, the first monitor to feature DisplayPort technology which is a USB sized port that offers up double the performance of DVI and is supported by VESA.

The 3008WFP runs has a WQXGA 2560x1600 resolution, advanced video processing for multi-resolution support, and TCT with a 117% colour gamut. On top of that lot there’s an 8ms response time and a 3000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

But how about connectivity? Well you’re pretty well served there with a whole slew of options: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI-D with HDCP x 2, VGA, S-Video, Component and Composite connectors… suits you, sir.

And the fun doesn’t stop there as there’s also a 9-in-2 card reader, 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, an enhanced OSD selection with colour space conversion and all topped off, well, bottomed off with a height adjustable stand.

Your article says the 3008-WFP has a 177% colour gamut, i think you mean 117%. I don't think even the LED backlit models have reached 177% NTSC yet.

Same res as the 3007WFP .. Glad they have finally taken a hint and added more than just a single Dvi port!!.. Price tag going to be hefty tho! ;)

Not just the price tag. I remember comparing the power comsumption of the 30in Dell 3007 to the 24in 2407, and opted for the 24in model. I simply didn't want to use 2.5 times as much energy.
(The 30in will use more than a basic computer would (at idle).)
