More X79 powered mainboards have started appearing for the camera. We saw Foxconn's beau last week, and now ECS' X79R-AX has popped-up.

Part of the manufacturer's 'Black Series' of mainboards, the X79R-AX is positioned as a high-end solution. With its LGA2011 socket, power delivery comes courtesy of a 14-phase VRM. Features include voltage measurement points, an LED display for POST codes, and a CMOS reset button which is accessible from the back panel.

A black, white and grey colour scheme has been used, and we've been told that Driver-MOSFETs and chokes have been used throughout. There's support for 4-way CrossFireX and SLI, plus the usual host of connectivity options.

The latest expectations are that the X79 platform, is earmarked for a mid-November launch.

Looks very plain IMO. The Foxconn looked better.
