Accessories, availability and pricing

If ever there was an example of a value-adding bundle, this might be it. Foxconn's Bloodrage offers more out-the-box goodies than we tend to see from other manufacturers, though, it could be argued that a selection of these are merely gimmicks.

For those who like to configure their board before putting it into a chassis, there's the Foxconn Quantum Lap motherboard tray.

If you find your multi-GPU setup is a little too hot for liking, there's Quantum Flow - a 120mm blue-LED fan that'll mount onto the end of your GPUs and lower temperatures by around 5°C, apparently.

Sound is offered via the bundled Sonar X-Fi sound card. It'll provide all the usual Creative X-Fi treats such as EAX HD 4.0, and has a signal-to-noise of 104dB.

Add to that three 90 degree SATA and power cables, three standard SATA and power cables, an IDE cable, two SAS cables, 15 cable ties, an expansion bracket with two USB ports and FireWire, and a thermal peripheral bag, and you've quite the bundle.

If all that just isn't enough, there's more Quantum Force goodness available in the form of the optional QF Panel.

No word on pricing for this one, but the optional extra slots into a 5.25in optical bay and features an LCD display that'll show any Post errors and allow for voltage and fan adjustments.

On paper, Bloodrage is shaping up to be an impressive high-end X58 solution. It's scheduled to reach stores early December, and it'll carry a price-tag of around £265 including VAT.

The first page states 12GB.

It's still a lot of money to shell out for the new platform (essentially a new build) and not something I can see myself needing to do for at least another 6 months. That's despite my desire to tinker with the latest stuff - haven't got the software to seriously demand that kind of kit yet.
And I may be wrong here, but after a very quick look, I can't find any DDR3 4GB modules. I did say currently it's limited to 6GB.

I wasn't aware you could connect SATA hard drives to a SAS port though, so I'll back down on that one.
