When Dell dropped a teaser of its transforming Inspiron Duo a few weeks ago, we were left with nothing more than a vague 'coming soon' release date. Well, it looks like soon might be sooner than we'd thought, as CNET is reporting that the Windows-powered netvertible (tab-book? lapvertible?) could launch as soon as next week.
According to industry sources familiar with the company's plans, the Duo will be announced early next week, possibly on November 23. Pre-sale information is expected to be released sometime this week - possibly in conjunction with the opening of a new Microsoft store - before the laptop goes on sale directly from Dell following the official announcement.
The timing would mean that it appears just in time for American Thanksgiving and the infamous Black Friday - the biggest shopping day of the year and the unofficial start of the Christmas retail period. A launch this side of the festive season would also help Dell's already unique computer to get the jump on the deluge of new systems expected to be unveiled at CES at the start of January.
Unfortunately, the source wasn't able to reveal any further details about the Duo, although the author suggests that it'll be powered by one of Intel's new dual-core Atom CPUs. While we wouldn't be surprised if this was the case, we hadn't previously heard any specific details on the hardware beyond the fact that it would be based around an Atom processor.
Again, that's pretty much all we know for the time being, but hopefully we'll be able to bring you plenty more details over the course of the next week.
