E4000-series (ultra-portable)
The E4000-series is Dell's attempt to encroach on the netbook market without compromising on functionality.
The smallest new Latitude, the E4200, provides a 12.1in display and weighs just 0.99kg. It's powered by a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and utilises integrated graphics. Users can opt for up to 5GB of RAM, and there's a choice of 64GB or 128GB SSDs.
The second E4000-series machine, the E4300, offers a larger 13.3in display, and features a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. There's still only room for integrated graphics, but users can squeeze in a 160GB HDD if they choose.
Both systems are expected to be available in the coming weeks, but pricing is yet to be announced. Oh, and they'll also be available in Quartz Pink!
E5000-series (essentials)
The E5000-series consists of the 14.1in E5400 and 15.4in E5500, with prices starting at £379 and £349, respectively.
Both models feature an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and up to 4GB memory. Graphics again are integrated, but there's the option of fingerprint readers and GPS.
Dell described the E5000-series as "the best value possible in a business laptop", and it's available now.
E6000-series (mainstream)
The mainstream products are described by Dell as "a balance between top performance, extensive feature set and price."
The laptops, the 14in E6400 and 15.4in E6500, provide the widest range of battery options and features. There's room for options such as backlit keyboards, LED backlit displays, and a 256MB discrete NVIDIA graphics card.
Both systems are powered by a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and users can opt for up to 8GB of RAM. Storage options include a 64GB SSD, or up to 256GB via a traditional HDD.
The Latitude E6400 starts at £579 while the E6500 starts at £599, both are available now.
E6000-series ATG (semi-rugged)
The final addition is the semi-rugged Latitude E6400 ATG. It'll start at $1,569, and features most of the features of the standard E6400. The difference, is the toughened shell. The E6400 ATG meets 810F military standards for extreme temperatures, vibration, dust intrusion and altitude.
Pricing and availability is yet to be announced for the mean-looking E6400 ATG.
