Who needs Mike Ming to be cool?

Whether you found them cool or not, Dell's special edition Mike Ming laptops are, it seems, just the beginning of the manufacturer's quest to be cool.

According to Engadget, the image below showcases Dell's forthcoming line-up of Inspiron laptops, the 1435, 1535 and 1735.

As an owner of a Dell Inspiron 1520, I'll be the first to admit that the system, albeit highly functional, isn't as easy on the eye as one would hope. That might not be the case for long. If indeed this is the design scheme of forthcoming Inspiron systems, we're in for a treat. The XPS-like sharpness of the laptop takes a thin approach similar to Lenovo's X300. The new Inspirons are said to be 1in thick at the thinnest point, rising to 1.5in.

Engadget reports that the new Inspiron range will carry processors ranging up to Intel's 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo T5850. There'll be slot-loading DVD drives, with Blu-ray and 3G available as optional extras.

If the rumoured leak is to be believed, Dell's Inspiron 1535 will launch as soon as May 26th, followed by the 1735 on June 9th and the 1435 sometime in October.

No official word from Dell just yet, but we're quietly hopeful these will be the new Inspiron machines. They're looking mighty tasty.

They appear to be very similar to the Dell laptop XPS range (M1530 etc), no doubt sharing components.
I wonder what the price tag will be - might even tempt me into changing my Inspiron 6400 :(
That's a very smart looking machine; wonder of the Latitudes'll be up for a restyling next…
CPUs only up to T5850. What, no Penryn? The least they could've done was give an option.
I must have odd opinion what looks good, but from those pictures i'm not impressed at all….
