Boston show off the AcoustiRACK

With a predicted 20 dB (A) noise reduction, the new AcoustiRACK active server solution brings some pretty impressive acoustic benefits to the noisy world of servers. The clever bit is that the thermal performance isn’t affected in any way allowing enough airflow to dissipate up to 5KW.

The technology is called Silentium and basically uses noise-cancelling technology to reduce the audible noise whilst the additional sound proofing inside helps to channel the air flow correctly through the cabinet. Aside from looking like a safe, on the noisy show floor the difference in the noise with the cabinet door closed was noticeable.

Hopefully companies will adopt the technology so the IT guys aren’t forced to live out of the basement anymore…
