With Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system now out in the open, we're expecting each and every PC, component or peripheral manufacturer to line up with a slew of sexy new products hoping to cash in on the 7-led bandwagon.

Sexy, however, isn't the word we'd most closely associate with NZXT's latest chassis; the mid-tower Gamma.

Aimed at the "budget-conscious builder," this mid-tower monstrosity might not be the easiest on the eye, but it's certainly wallet-friendly, priced at around $50 (that's roughly £30 excluding local taxes).

Despite the relatively-low price tag, Gamma is surprisingly well equipped. It's not everyday you see a £30 chassis offering a full black interior.

There's room for a bottom-mounted PSU, seven expansion slots, and a total of 11 drive bays - four of the 5.25in variety and seven 3.5in.

Measuring 190mm x 449mm x 508mm and weighing 6kgs, the chassis offers support for ATX, mATX or BabyAT motherboards. There's room for plenty of cooling, too, with Gamma providing room for a front-mounted 120mm intake, two 120mm side fans, two top 120mm/140mm exhausts and a 120mm rear exhaust. Sadly, only the latter is included as standard - but what did you expect for $50?

NZXT reckons 10in graphics cards will fit without a problem, and it's giving enthusiasts some useful tools such as pre-drilled water cooling holes and holes in the motherboard for cable management. There's even the facility for a dual radiator to be attached to the top of the chassis, and the front I/O panel is pretty well equipped - offering audio, USB and eSATA connectivity.

Willing to look past the shall-we-say, unusual design? Or, better still, find yourself falling for Gamma's jagged front face? You'll find the chassis in stores later this month.

LOL!

Just need a joystick and galaxians to complete the look!
That is certainly the nicest $30 (appologies for US keyboard :angst:) case I have ever seen!
“It's not everyday you see a £30 chassis offering a full black interior.”…..

Sure, but this is a PREGNANT pc case

I mean, it's like dating women with, you know :secret:….baggage…

Ultimately, you get what you pay for

BUT! Change some small features, flatten the belly, and It'll sell like hot cakes
I've always thought the slew of new NZXT cases were great value for money while also looking quite good, despite what some people were branding them… Not this time, boy that is ugly as ugly gets :)
What a shame it's so frickin' ugly!!

Otherwise good budget case!
