SAPPHIRE Technology, industry leader in graphics solutions has just introduced a new addition to its acclaimed line of AMD-based mainboards featuring HDMI output, on-board Vista(TM) Premium ready graphics, HD 8-channel Dolby Digital Live sound and a host of features to make it the ideal choice in compact and multimedia systems.
SAPPHIRE’s new PURE Innovation HDMI model uniquely implements the full feature set of the latest AMD 690G chipset, including IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interfaces, all three HDMI, VGA and DVI outputs as well as all interface options, yet is available at a very affordable price point. Built on SAPPHIRE’s trademark white PCB, the new SAPPHIRE PI-AM2RS690MHD combines support for AMD’s powerful AM2 processor families* with the most complete set of on-board features available.
Supporting up to 8GB of Dual Channel DDR2 memory, this mainboard delivers the performance demanded by even the most demanding of today’s office and multimedia applications. The integrated ATI Radeon(TM) X1250 graphics technology supports HDCP1.1 and is Vista(TM) Premium certified. It supports the highly acclaimed ATI Avivo(TM) technology for stunning video quality and performance. In addition to HDMI 1.2 output, supporting 1080p, a standard VGA connector is provided on board. DVI-D is also provided on a PCI-Express DVIO card, delivering dual-link DVI output at resolutions up to 2550 x 1600. A separate TV-out header is also supplied. If a PCI-Express add-in graphics card is used, the system supports SURROUNDVIEW(TM) with up to four monitors.
High Definition audio is also integrated on-board and delivers 8-channel Dolby Digital Live sound over HDMI, SPDIF out or on the industry standard output jacks.

A full range of onboard communications include Gbit LAN, ten USB 2.0 ports and two IEEE 1394 (FireWire) ports as well as a Parallel port and COM port. Optimal hard drive performance is assured with four SATA-II connectors as well as IDE ATA133 and FDD connectors. Extensive provision is made for expansion with one PCI-Express x16, one PCI-Express x1 and two standard PCI slots.
SATA, IDE, and FDD cables as well as header cables and brackets for additional ports are all supplied in SAPPHIRE’s comprehensive package together with WHQL diver CD, StompSoft backup and security software bundle and AMD Windows Monitoring Utility.
