SAPPHIRE Technology, best known as a manufacturer and global supplier of graphics solutions continues to expand its range of motherboards aimed at the enthusiast and discerning mainstream user with two new ITX mainboards optimized for performance and value.
The latest introduction is a pair of new mini ITX mainboards developed to support the second generation LGA1155 SandyBridge Core i3/i5/i7 family of processors from Intel with a number of features geared to optimizing performance. The SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum series incorporates many of the high end features associated with the SAPPHIRE brand, such as the use of high reliability solid capacitors throughout and 3-phase voltage regulation circuitry incorporating the patented SAPPHIRE Diamond Black chokes with coolers that have featured on SAPPHIRE's high end graphics cards.
The SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum H67 is a state-of-the-art mini ITX mainboard with two onboard USB 3.0 ports as well as four USB 2.0 ports (8 including headers), two SATA 6G ports and two SATA 3G ports, including AHCI and RAID support, Gigabit LAN and Bluetooth connectivity. Four Video output options are provided - DVI, VGA, HDMI and DisplayPort - of which any pair can be used simultaneously. The rear panel has the standard I/O configuration for the on board HD 7.1 Audio as well as SPDIF out.
On the Pure Platinum H67, up to 8GB of memory is supported by two dual channel DDR3 memory slots with latches designed to avoid interference with the adjacent PCI-E x16 slot if a full length graphics card is fitted. This PCI-E Gen2 slot supports add-in graphics cards for improved rendering and 3D gaming performance, and the bundled Lucid Virtu software gives the user control over the use of on-board or add-in graphics without changing the physical connection to the monitor. In addition there is a mini PCI-E slot on the underside of the board that allows the use of add-in cards to this new format such as Wireless networking or Flash memory.
For cost conscious users, the SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum H61 shares many of the features of the SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum H67, with the exception of the SATA 6G ports and the AHCI, RAID and Virtu support. Hardware monitoring tools and the SAPPHIRE proprietary Mainboard TriXX software allow users to optimize performance of both these boards. Both boards are in production now, and available through SAPPHIRE's usual channel partners and retailers.
