PRESS RELEASE

Catering to intensive graphics applications with optimized OpenGL performance

Taipei, Taiwan (April 12, 2011) - The just-released P8B WS is aimed at professional graphics designers, offering the best OpenGL performance available with the new Intel® C206 chipset and Socket 1155-based Intel® Xeon® E3-1200 series workstation processors. Built-in dual server-class Intel® LAN contributes 64% lower CPU utilization for increased networking throughput, while on-board SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 boost work efficiency through faster data transfers. Support for multiple CPU, memory and graphics card types enables a diverse range of workstation builds. The new board ships with the ASUS "24X24" guarantee, meaning non-stop 24-hour operational excellence and assured market availability for a minimum 24 months after launch.

Optimized OpenGL performance

The combination of the workstation-specific Intel® C206 chipset and Socket 1155 Xeon® E3-1200 series workstation processors boosts extreme-output HD3000 integrated graphics to achieve unmatched OpenGL performance. Also, complete compatibility is assured with independent software vendor (ISV) applications, including Adobe® Photoshop®, Autodesk® AutoCAD®, Dassault® Solidworks® and others.

Dual server-class Intel® Gigabit LAN

Built-in dual server-class hardware-accelerated Intel® Gigabit LAN enables a more reliable networking environment, resulting in 64% lower CPU utilization for increased networking efficiency. Additionally, the embedded Intel® 82574L LAN chipset supports a wide range of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows®, CenOS and Ubuntu. The P8B WS is also fully VMware® certified for easy and powerful virtualization.

SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 included

USB 3.0 works up to ten times faster than USB 2.0, offering significant time savings when handling large amounts of data. SATA 6Gb/s likewise doubles the throughput of SATA 3Gb/s, expediting data transfer rates and creating a more reliable and efficient work environment.

Flexible CPU, memory and graphics options

The P8B WS supports Xeon® E3-1200 series server and workstation processors as well as 2nd generation Intel® CoreTM i3 processors, plus extra-reliable unbuffered DDR3 ECC memory and more readily available unbuffered DDR3 non-ECC memory. It also enables multi-GPU configurations, including NVIDIA® GeForce® cards, NVIDIA® Quadro® accelerators and AMD graphics cards in CrossFireXTM. The P8B WS thus affords diverse workstation builds for every budget and need.
