Integrating the Serial ATA high-speed interface, the latest SiS964 South Bridge chipset supports dual-channel parallel PATA with two independent Serial ATA 150 ports, providing a 150MB/Sec data transfer rate. Also, the excellent hot-plug function enables Serial ATA devices to be upgraded and replaced without shutting down the computer. Compared with traditional PATA, the size of cables of Serial ATA apparently reduces and consequently consumes less motherboard space. Built with eight USB2.0 ports, the SiS964 supports Dolby digital 5.1 channel, V.90 data transfer and the Ethernet, and can be easily connected with related equipment. Moreover, the new SiS964 also supports multi RAID modules, including RAID0, RAID1 and JBOD; thus significantly promotes the stability of operating environment and the system performance. With SiS' innovative technology HyperStreamingTM Engine, the SiS964 chipset can improve the system delay under multi-tasking and efficiently upgrade the system performance.
Michael Chen, SiS President and CEO said "SiS964 will accelerate Serial ATA to become the mainstream format in the market, and solidify SiS' comprehensive SATA/RAID interfaces roadmap as well as the full-scale system upgrade plan. Also, we will continuously develop innovative technologies to fulfill the market demands and sustain our leading position by providing best products."
Availability
The SiS964 will begin its mass production in 2003 Q3, followed by SiS' further chipsets for Intel and AMD platforms.
