ASUS
Ships A7V266-E Socket A DDR Motherboard for High-Performance Systems

Taipei,
Taiwan, November 1, 2001

– The world’s leading motherboard manufacturer, ASUS, today
announced the release of the A7V266-E socket A DDR motherboard. The
A7V266-E incorporates the VIA KT266A chipset to support AMD socket A
processors, as well as high-bandwidth DDR (double data rate) memory.
The result is a motherboard that delivers optimal performance and
features to fulfill the performance potential of AMD socket A
processors.

The
A7V266-E is designed for performance. Taking advantage of the VIA
KT266A’s advanced chipset architecture, the A7V266-E motherboard
maximizes the performance of up to 3GB high-speed DDR200/266 SDRAM at
a peak bandwidth of 2.1GB/ second. DDR SDRAM is a high-performance
memory standard that enables 266MHz bus speeds compared to 133MHz bus
speeds of conventional PC133 SDRAM.

Comprehensive
overclocking options unlock the potential of AMD processors. DIP
switches and ASUS JumperFree™ mode allow users to adjust
overclocking settings either manually or from the convenience of the
BIOS screen. 1MHz incremental settings push system-bus settings over
200MHz, while CPU voltage adjustments in 0.05V intervals over default
provide additional performance configurability.

Experience
superior 6-channel 3D surround audio with the C-Media CMI8738 audio
controller. This impressive chip eliminates the cost of an additional
soundcard and adds dynamic realism to your favorite games, MP3s or
DVDs. An optional onboard RAID controller enhances hard drive
performance and flexibility without the cost of add-ons such as SCSI
cards, while a Realtek LAN controller provides easy connectivity to
networks and broadband.

The
A7V266-E is ultra-expandable with five standard PCI interfaces and
connections for up to six USB ports. An ACR interface supports
software modem or audio technologies via a modem/audio riser card,
while an AGP Pro slot supports AGP4X and professional VGA cards for
advanced workstations.
