South Korea, September 19th, 2008. Samsung Electronics, a market leader in consumer electronics and world leader in IT technology, today announced its entry into the global netbook market with the launch of the Samsung NC10. Small, light and incredibly functional, the netbook NC10 is a stylish alternative to existing products in the space.
Going out in style
Developed with the needs of the “kinetic elite” in mind, the NC10 is expertly crafted so you can achieve even more on the move – and still look good! The superb look and feel of its ultra-compact and elegant chassis comes with the reassurance of a smooth and integrated manufacturing process. It is also accentuated with a choice of stylish colors – white, classic Samsung piano black and a unique metallic blue color.
Ultra Mobility
Even though it is one of the world’s lightest 10.2" netbooks, weighing just 1.33kg* with a 6 cell battery, the NC10 incorporates a stunning 10.2” WSVGA (1024 x 600) SuperBright© Non-Gloss LED screen and normal-size, ergonomic notebook PC style keyboard that makes it even easier to type in comparison to other products of its kind.
In addition, Intel's smallest and lowest power processor, the Intel® Atom™ processor, enables the NC10 to deliver real computing power at a fraction of the weight, size and cost. By incorporating the Microsoft™ Windows® XP Home operating system coupled with options for 80-160GB hard disk storage, the NC10 also sets a new standard in price / performance for netbooks.
Always on the go
The NC10’s ultra durable Protect-o-Edge© casing can easily withstand the stresses and strains of everyday life, making this netbook the ideal companion for a mobile lifestyle. And for maximum freedom and mobility the NC10 delivers longer battery powered performance. With a 6 cell battery capable of just up to 8 hours*, this little powerhouse makes mobile working a more practical reality.
All you need to stay in touch
The NC10 offers a new way for consumers to access the Internet at home and on the move. It boasts a range of advanced communications technologies, including Atheros® 802.11b.g wireless LAN for fast Internet access, a 10/100 Ethernet LAN and optional Bluetooth 2.0+EDR*. It also incorporates an integrated digital motion camera, so it’s easy to stay in touch using video-conferencing or live messaging. Other features include a 3 in 1 multi-memory card reader, a VGA connection, mic in, headphone out and 3 x USB ports.
Anti Bacterial Keyboard
And finally, the NC10features an amazing Samsung innovation - Silver Nano Technology. By sprinkling incredibly small, nano-sized silver ion powder on the keyboard it makes it impossible for bacteria to live and breed, creating a more hygienic personal computing environment.
Premium class, exceptional economy
The NC10 is ideally suited to the first-time buyer or as a supplement to a primary notebook. Its low price and practical functionality gives millions of new people a user friendly way to get onto the web, access emails and social networks.
Dinesh Chand Product Manager for Notebooks at Samsung Electronics UK commented: “We have been looking at the netbook market for some time to see where we could really add value for consumers. Through our extensive R&D network, we have gained a true insight into consumers’ frustrations with these products, such as small keyboards and short battery life, which has been very valuable and has allowed us to develop a product we feel fits our customers needs. Small and light, with the power and functionality for mobile working and web browsing, the NC10delivers a true online experience from the palm of your hand.”
The Samsung NC10 will launch in October 2008. The expected selling price is up to £329.
