Affordable Solutions Provide Power Today with Scalability for Future Growth Bracknell, UK, Feb. 24, 2004-Dell is today introducing new single-processor
Dell(tm) PowerEdge(tm) servers, developed specifically for small and medium sized businesses (SMB's). The announcement further demonstrates Dell's commitment to delivering high performance feature sets, advance capabilities and greater value on all systems including entry-level products.
The two models introduced today, the PowerEdge 700, a tower server, and the PowerEdge 750, a 1U rackmount system, are very competitively priced staring from as little as £499 (excluding VAT and delivery).
"Dell is committed to lowering overall costs while providing the latest standards-based enterprise-class offerings. Its growing portfolio of specially designed servers is ideal for SMB customers where good value, coupled with high performance is top of the list when it comes to choosing enterprise class products," said Mark Smith, EMEA Enterprise Product Marketing Manager, Dell. "Dell is working to deliver to SMB's with the same class of technologies as much larger organisations," Smith added.
A full suite of support services complement Dell's trademark easy-to-use features, and server systems management tools help small companies build and maintain business solutions that help them to differentiate themselves in the marketplace.
"SMB customers are using more advanced technologies to drive and grow sophisticated and innovative businesses", said Smith. "The affordability of the PowerEdge 700 and PowerEdge 750 indicates Dell's steadfast focus on delivering advanced capabilities to the SMB market", Smith continued.
Powering the SMB
The new systems are ideal for small workgroups and remote offices with limited IT resources or space. The PowerEdge 700 and PowerEdge 750 servers feature Intel's latest Pentium® 4 processors with 1MB cache for the performance demands of e-mail, Web, file, and print serving applications.
The servers' new features have dramatically improved overall system performance. For example, the PowerEdge 750, starting at £699(excluding VAT and delivery), performs nearly 20 percent faster than the last-generation Dell server, but at a much lower cost. The PowerEdge 700, starting at £499(excluding VAT and delivery), can hold up to 1TB of data internally to accommodate a growing business' storage needs.
The servers come with Dell OpenManage standards-based systems management tools, and customers can upgrade their servers with remote management cards to maximise limited IT resources. The new servers are all backed by Dell's comprehensive support service plans.
