Samsung might have a low-cost netbook on the way, but the South Korean manufacturer is still rolling out high-end notebooks and the latest is the Blu-ray packing R610.
The R610, Samsung's latest addition to its "touch of colour" range, aims to offer the ultimate mobile-media experience with features such as a 16in 16:9 full-HD display, 7.1 surround sound and a Blu-ray disc drive.
It measures a chunky 37.9cm x 26.5cm x 31.8-38.5cm, and weighs 2.8kg. That substantial shell, however, will house a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 320GB of hard-disk space, and NVIDIA GeForce Go 9200M graphics.
It could be argued that a small 16in screen somewhat defeats the purpose of viewing pixel-packed full-HD material, but if you're overcome with HD fever, you might think otherwise.
The R610 will be running Microsoft's Windows Vista Home Premium, and will be available from October 2008 with prices starting at £939 inc. VAT - though, that starting price won't even fetch the full-HD screen.
