Electronic Arts have confirmed that six new games are in development for Wii. Each title will be designed to ultilise the Wii's controller capabilities to maximum advantage.
The new games will be born from the following franchises : Madden NFL, Need For Speed, Harry Potter, Tiger Woods PGA, SSX and The Godfather.
Although we've heard no feedback, the Wii version of Madden NFL has already been showcased behind the scenes to a number of high profile media and press. The other five titles are expected to be ready for the launch of Nintendo's console, currently estimated to be the end of October.
“Once we started to experiment with Madden on Wii, there was an explosion of innovation. Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunity afforded by both the hardware and controller. By reaching into our catalogue, we are able to bring a fresh and distinctive experience to some of EA’s most popular franchises. Creatively, the game play possibilities are staggering and endless,” said John Schappert, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EA.
“Nintendo is excited to see the broad array of signature franchises that EA’s talented development teams are designing for Wii,” says Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO, Nintendo of America Inc. “The combination of sensational games with Wii’s unique play control will thrill players and breathe new life into video games.”
The Wii-mote should add a whole new depth to the meanining of interrogation in The Godfather. What we really want to know is how EA are going to translate the intricate movements of strangling someone to the innovate controller!
