We've been following the progress of the DOOM reboot with interest. The original did a lot to transform the computer gaming landscape; with FPS gameplay, popular network play and the thirst for powerful 3D graphics cards all sparked by DOOM, some would argue. The finished game is due on Friday 13th May but before that time some of you will be able to take part in the Closed Beta, running from Thursday 31st March until Sunday 3rd April. Thanks to a FAQ regarding the beta we now know the minimum and recommended PC specifications for the game, as it stands.

Bethesda added the following footnote regarding graphics cards requirements: "Please note that the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti, and mobile GPUs are not supported for the DOOM Beta. Please check back later for minimum or recommended system specs for the final game."
To get access to the DOOM Closed Beta PC gamers need to have bought Wolfenstein: The New Order. Gamers who bought that title digitally prior to 26th May 2014 and also some buyers of boxed copies of that game qualify for beta participation. As well as coming to PC/Steam the Beta will arrive simultaneously on Xbox One and PS4 – the consoles have similar qualifying closed beta participation criteria to the PC.
This multiplayer beta features two maps, Heatwave and Infernal, and two modes, 6x6 Team Deathmatch and Warpath. Weapons such as the Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, Super Shotgun, Vortex Rifle, Static Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, and Lightning Gun, Gauss Cannon, Frag Grenade, Personal Teleporter, and Siphon Grenade all feature.
