A post on the official Crysis Blog takes a dig at the pirates involved and expresses EA and Crytek's disappointment at the leak.
"Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community."
The statement seems to have caused quite a backlash from the PC community with many users attacking the two companies for not releasing a PC demo of the game.
One poster writes:
"if you would have stayed faithfull to your original fans, and release a pc demo, instead of xbox360 demo first! (jumping onto the console money making bandwagon!) shame on you EA... us pc gamer people stuck with this franchise from the start when the first two crysis games were pc only. what do you expect?..... you shafted your original fans."
There's also a theory doing the rounds that the leak might have been made from within Crytek itself.
You can read more about it on the official Crysis 2 blog.
