Global opportunity beckons
Dave Karraker, the senior director of corporate communications (PR guy) for Sony Computer Entertainment America, has today confirmed that he will be standing down from his post on September 7th.After only one year in the role Karraker is leaving the company to work as Head of PR for a company called Skyy Spirits, who make KYY Vodka, a domestically-made US vodka. "I've been presented a global opportunity near my home in an industry where I have previous experience that I feel I must pursue," he revealed in an email to the media.
"It has been a wild ride and an incredibly enriching experience," Karraker said. "I have enjoyed immensely my tenure at SCEA and think the company and its brands are very well positioned to have an exceptional holiday and a very bright future."
"I look forward to continuing to follow this industry as a gamer, rather than a spokesperson."
Karraker talks in more depth about his departure on 1up, where he says he feels that despite his short stay with SCEA he has achieved his goals:
If you look back a year ago today, we had some real challenges in communicating the value propositions for all of our platforms. Today, I think people clearly see where each of our machines stand in the marketplace. There is still so much we can do, but I think we are definitely on an uptick that will only increase as we bombard consumers with games this holiday.
