Yesterday Kotaku revealed the firnst details and screenshots from next year's Assassin's Creed: Victory. Its sources shared a seven minute "target gameplay footage" video with the online magazine. Kotaku judged the real-time footage to be "slick" and of "E3 quality". The game is set in Victorian London and as such much of the imagery is dark, sooty and rainy.
Assassin's Creed: Victory is due to be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Autumn next year. It will be the first time the game's development has been lead by Ubisoft's Quebec studio. Additionally this will be the only main Assassin's Creed game next year, however it will leave ye olde Xbox 360 and PS3 behind.
The missions again set you as the assassin against the Templars. In the video the task is to kill a man called Roderick Bulmer, a people trafficker. A new element appearing in this game is a grappling hook that you can use for vertical manoeuvring, as long as you have a roof or ledge above you.
Kotaku says requests from many fans that the Assassin's Creed franchise takes a year off has fallen on deaf ears. Yet the game looks "impressive" already. We are reminded that only a week ago Ubisoft had to apologise and give away free DLC and/or a new top title to appease angry Unity buyers.
Ubisoft - an "unfortunate" leak
Following the above leak, Ubisoft released an official statement to PC Gamer, concerning 'Victory'. "It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we're disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public." It went on to say that working on Victory has in no way hampered its efforts to update, bug-fix and enhance 'Unity' - "The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we're excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin's Creed Unity for players."
