A new games-on-demand service titled Good Old Games (GOG) has popped up, and it promises to deliver classic PC titles to nostalgic gamers.

Focusing solely on old games, the GOG service will provide titles such as Fallout, Descent, Operation Flashpoint, and many more.

The gamer-friendly features, however, are that all titles will be priced at a very low $5.99 or $9.99. In addition, all GOG downloads will be completely DRM-free, allowing users to install titles on any PC and re-download games at their will.

Those worried about backward compatibility with old titles needn't be concerned, as GOG states that its programming team has ensured all its games are Windows Vista and Windows XP compatible.

It all sounds very promising, but it's an invite-only service for the time being. An open beta is expected to be announced soon, with an official launch sometime after that. If you fancy your chances of joining the beta, sign up at GOG.com.

What titles would you like to see offered on GOG? We're hoping for Diablo and Diablo II, but we'd love to hear your thoughts in the HEXUS.community forums.

I see Freespace 2 is in that banner pic.

To anyone who has never played Freespace:

You must buy it. You REALLY must buy it.

Oh, and once you've bought it, get fs2_open, apply all the new effects packs, and play it through… amazing.
I got a beta access key from them yesterday but had no time to log in and have a look; Funnily enough I was busy re-playing System Shock 2!

what's it like? Elite?
No, not quite like elite.

But it's in space, you shoot things… and there's some really big ships with gigantic weaponry that can tear you to pieces.
