More definitive news concerning Amazon's foray into the tablet world, has emerged over the weekend.
Featuring a full-colour 7in capacitive display, and apparently priced at $250 US Dollars, we can expect to see Amazon make its move by the end of November. As well as already being positioned by many as a potential iPad-killer, it is surmised that the claimed price-point will see the Amazon Kindle tablet squaring-off against the Nook Color from Barnes & Noble.
It's believed that the device harbours deep integration with a range of Amazon services, including the company's Android Appstore, Cloud Player and Instant Video Player. There are no Google Apps present at all, and it looks like Amazon has commissioned a somewhat bespoke version of the Android OS, and will build upon that itself.
Hardware wise, the Amazon Kindle tablet is rumoured to feature a single-core chip, 6GB of internal storage capacity, and ship in a Wi-Fi only flavour - at least initially. It's suggested that plans are afoot to deliver 3G-enabled versions eventually, and a 10in variety may follow in early 2012.
No images have emerged yet, but we can apparently envision something along the lines of the BlackBerry PlayBook, in terms of form.
