Sky has launched a Mobile TV App designed to allow consumers to stream live TV direct to their iPhone or iPod touch devices.

The Sky Mobile TV application, available now as a free download from the Apple App Store, is applicable to any mobile network but only allows users to stream live TV via Wi-Fi, as opposed to 3G.

Although the App itself is free, it initially only allows users to browse an electronic programming guide, detailing what's on over the next 24 hours. To tune in to live content - which includes broadcasts from the Sky News, Sky Sports, Sky Sports News and ESPN channels - viewers will be required to subscribe to Sky Mobile TV at a cost of £6 per month.

Despite content being limited to a small 3.5in screen, Sky's Mobile TV pricing makes this one of the cheapest ways in which to watch exclusive Sky Sports content. In comparison, the cheapest home Sky TV package to include both Sky Sports and ESPN costs £36.50, and carries a minimum contract of 12 months.
