Pros and cons

The second part of our exclusive interview series with NVIDIA corporate communications manager Bea Longworth sees Sylvie conclude her first impressions of Microsoft's Zune HD.

She compares the Zune to her iPod and finds it more intuitive to use. However, she thinks it would be a more powerful proposition if it had 3G connectivity or even a camera. Sylvie is a fan of the Zune Marketplace, and considers it a key differentiator, as long as they get a few more apps on it soon.

We then move on to the only other device announced that contains the Tegra Soc - the Samsung YPM1 - which is also a personal media player. Longworth stresses that, while she's expecting the YPM1 to be available in the UK soon (unlike the Zune HD) the model she has is a pre-production sample.

Among the advantages Longworth identifies with the YPM1 are a speaker and voice recording capability. It lacks the fancy software of the Zune, but conversely it offers users more flexibility.
