Ionic bonding
The long wait for NVIDIA's much anticipated IGP designed specifically to work with Intel Atom processors is over.
Acer has launched, among a bunch of other things, the AspireRevo mini desktop, which runs on the Atom 230 CPU and ION graphics. In theory the AspireRevo should offer considerably better graphics performance than other Atom based systems, thanks to the ION IGP.
"The highly integrated NVIDIA ION GPU delivers 10X faster graphics performance than other small desktop PCs," claims the Acer press release. It seems to be being positioned as a multimedia domestic PC and has an HDMI port and a VESA mount. The optimal use, according to Acer, is connected to a TV.
"The AspireRevo is small and quiet enough to go anywhere, yet big enough to handle all the needs of your digital lifestyle," said Gianpiero Morbello, corporate VP of marketing for Acer. "It's perfectly suited for the living room, because NVIDIA ION provides a brilliant graphics experience with digital photos, watching video, and playing family-friendly games."
