Tiny projector
The other main product launch of the day was the long rumoured M109S pocket-sized projector. Dell doesn't offer precise dimensions, claiming only that the M109S "fits snuggly in the palm of a hand." Dell does say that it weighs 0.80 lbs, delivers 55 ANSI Lumens at a resolution of 858x600 (SVGA) and has a projection distance of 94.5 inches.
The M109S is pretty affordable too at $499 and while it's only available in the US for now, Dell says it will be offered globally in the coming months.
Other launches today include an optional electronic privacy screen for the Latitude E6400 laptop. This is a software based upgrade that mucks about with the screen in such a way that it reduces side viewing angles. It can be activated with a single key combination when the user detects a snooper. This paranoia protection comes at a cost of $139.
Here are some other additions to the laptop portfolio:
- Color available on Latitude E4300, E6400 and E6500, including Mica-Brushed Metal (standard), Regatta Blue and Regal Red (E4200 available with color in the coming weeks including Quartz Pink).
- Premium Panel Guarantee with zero tolerance policy for pixels stuck in the "on" position is available on Latitude laptops and Dell Precision mobile workstations, as well as other select laptops from Dell.
- Continued solid state drive leadership with the addition of 64GB and 128GB drives2.
- Enhanced security with 160GB 7,200 RPM full disk encryption drive that leverages onboard hardware to secure data without sacrificing system performance2.
