Best known for its performance memory products, Corsair has continued its diversification by signing up Computer 2000 as a UK distributor.

While C2000, as it's known to its friends, is one of the biggest distributors in the UK, it's still a bit surprising to see it move so strongly into the enthusiast space, as it's historically more strongly associated with the B2B segment.

We spoke to John Osborne, the general manager for PC components at C2000, to find out what the thinking is behind the move. "This provides us with a high-end memory option, primarily for the gaming market," he said. "This expansion of our product portfolio ties in well with our strategy going forward."

Osborne observed that while some parts of the consumer electronics retailers might be struggling currently, e-tailers, mass merchandisers and supermarkets are still doing well.

Speaking to Corsair recently, it was clear that a big part of the appeal of adding C2000 as a distributor is the breadth of its channel reach.

Osborne confirmed that the new relationship is expected to formally come into effect on 1 June.
